    Natural vs. Organic

Most people are surprised to find out that even this so-called “natural” fiber that we all are very familiar with has an enormous impact on the planet: Conventionally grown Cotton is responsible for 25% of the world’s insecticides & 10% of the world’s pesticide and fertilizer use, polluting our waterways and airways with carcinogenic chemicals. In the growing process alone, it requires approximately 1/3 lb. of chemicals to grow enough cotton for an average T-shirt. Yuk!

It is reported by the World Health Organization that up to 20,000 people per year die from the pesticides & fertilizer sprayed by airplanes & from workers contact with these toxic chemicals. When you add in all of the chemical treatments that the fabric must endure to reach its final condition, you are left with a garment that has had a negative effect on everyone in its production chain, including the consumer.

    An Healthy Alternative Is Born

So we thought, Why not reverse this process??? It  was a easy decision for all of us at Green Apple to create sweats and tee shirts made of USDA certfied organic cotton. Create a product that is grown organically, processed naturally, dyed with low-impact treatments, and finished with only water-based printing an wood-pulp embroidery, packaged with biodegradable materials, and get it out to the customer at a price that they can afford? So this is what we did….

Our  fun & comfy organic cotton products are just another option we offer our families, friends and customers to wear and tear in while living their healthy lifestyle. We gurantee every garment to be of the finest quality that is possible to make. With close to twenty years of producing active apparel, it is a incredibly exciting time to be offering the health-conscious consumer one more alternative to chemically-based or synthetic fibers (plastic). Between the health & environmental advantages of organic cotton, the petrol chemical fibers (plastic by products) are a dying breed.

By switching to Organic Cotton, the soil is augmented with natural fertilizers, weeded mechanically instead of chemically, and pests are managed with natural predators and traps not chemicals, the soil improves, and the health of the workers is no longer threatened. People’s lives improve immensely. The planet benefits and so do you. We are proud to offer 100% Certified Organic Cotton apparel for the growing demand of the GREEN revolution...

    FACTS:

To be Certified Organic, The National Organic Program monitors farmers & prohibits farmers from using the following:

In addition to the growing of Organic Cotton, Certification requires these processes that are prohibited as well:

*chemical treatment of fibers in preparation for weaving/knitting fabric

*chemical bleaching to whiten fibers in preparation for dying

*chemical treatment of woven fabric to stabilize woven/knit fabric
