How Black Spandex Can Revolutionize Your Yoga Pants

If you thought that your Green Apple Active yoga pants couldn’t get any were wrong! We now are incorporating spandex technology. This revolutionary technology eliminates many common concerns found with yoga pants, and makes your favorite Green Apple yoga pants even better. Read on to see how spandex can make your yoga pants even better!

Eliminates Elastane Grin-Through

I know… what? Elastane grin-through sounds mysterious, but it is really just that sad look your yoga pants get when they are stretched too much, and the fibers don’t remain uniform in color and appearance. This grin-through, or glitter, results in worn-looking patches that cannot be repaired; the actual fibers are broken. What you are seeing is the broken loops of the elastane fabric that result from extreme stress on the fabric. Spandex technology virtually eliminates all elastane grin-through to give you performance yoga pants that can handle all of your stretching.

Resistant to the Elements

Spandex can stand up to any element you throw its way. Spandex has superior UV resistance, so your time in the sun doesn’t have to ruin your athletic wear. Another big culprit that leads to breakdown in fibers is sweat. Any good workout is going to make you sweat, make sure that your yoga pants can stand up to the sweat. Lotions, sunscreens and chlorine can also hasten a garment's demise; spandex resists these elements and holds its color and shape. spandex acts as a shield to fabric fibers, and protects against damage from the sun, sweat and chemicals.

Performance Power

Because spandex shields and protects fabric from outside elements, and keeps the fibers from breaking, it can stand up to the toughest workouts. Activewear that can go the distance and last through many workouts means a better product for you that performs better and lasts longer. If you put your yoga wear to the test with extreme stretches and moves, spandex can help your yoga pants keep up with you. Once your pants are stressed and worn they will never look the same, but spandex technology ensures beautiful, great-performing activewear.

Color Staying Power

We all want our athletic wear to look like it did the first day we bought it. With the spandex technology, your yoga pants will have improved color retention with less fading. Spandex utilizes the first truly black elastane, and can keep it’s rich dark color due to a spun-in pigment. You can keep your yoga pants looking new, with a deep, dark color, thanks to black spandex. You won’t have to worry about colors bleeding or rubbing off, the color stays on your pants where it belongs.

So, yes, your yoga pants can get better! Try out the durability, color fastness and extreme performance of fabric with the spandex technology. Green Apple Active is debuting our organic yoga pants made with spandex technology to make your favorite athletic wear even better. Shop our activewear today to find your new favorite pair!

Why Bamboo?

Green Apple Active is all about going green, and we’ve established products that ensure just that. Using organic bamboo and organic cotton, each piece will be exponentially softer, moisture wicking, flexible and supportive. Bamboo chutes also grow exponentially faster than trees, creating a substantial amount of resources to be used. The benefits of bamboo are vast and provide a reliable resource for clothing. It has often been compared to silk or cashmere due to its incredibly soft texture, though it’s exponentially less expensive.

How it Grows

When we say bamboo is sustainable, we should say it’s potentially the most sustainable resource available. The chutes can grow over a yard in as little as one day. With little water and sunlight needed to grow, bamboo also has deep, intertwining roots. When it is harvested, bamboo never has to be replanted. The roots are so deeply established that it continually starts new chutes, creating a consistent growth for the plant and allowing it to be used for resourcing often.

Environment Benefit

There are countless reasons to choose bamboo for our fabric. One of the biggest is being the environmental benefits it provides. The bamboo plant provides energy efficiency through minimal watering and sunlight, cleans the air by returning 30% more oxygen to the atmosphere than trees, and is 100% biodegradable. Furthermore, the benefits of bamboo being used for clothing material extend further.

Sun Protecting

The material is naturally UV resistant. Simultaneously it provides moisture wicking properties, keeping you from overheating, even while you are in the sun. It posses the ability to absorb over four times the amount of moisture as cotton, and allows for better evaporation.

Allergy Friendly

Organic bamboo has natural smooth fibers that don’t cause irritation to skin. If you are, or you know of someone who struggles with finding fabrics that won’t irritate their skin and make it red, bamboo is the answer. Anyone with dermatitis or other textile allergies will likely find bamboo fabric to be a great solution.

Bamboo Benefits

Green Apple Active is an environmentally conscious clothing brand that is passionate about designing organic, biodegradable articles of clothing for the active individual. As a result, we have designed an entire line based on an alternative fabric that far outweighs its competitors. Our organic bamboo fibers have more benefits than most people realize, and that’s what we’re here to talk to you about today. As a vegan, eco-friendly company, we want to shed light on why bamboo is better for clothing, for you, and for our environment.

Fabric Design Benefits

Often compared to cotton, bamboo offers another standard of comfort. The soft, pliable fabric is also moisture wicking, making it an ideal source to design active wear from. Much like cotton, bamboo fabric will keep you from getting drenched in sweat, making it a cool fabric that allows your body to breathe.

Bamboo fabric have a natural UV protection which allows for thermal control and overall comfort in the midst of your day. With a 94% protection from UVA rays, and a 93% block from UVB, bamboo clothing is extremely resistant and will ensure you’re covered outside while keeping you cool.

Less Odor

One of the little-known facts of bamboo fabric, and potentially one of the best benefits, is that bacteria doesn’t live well in it. In the bamboo there is an agent called “bamboo kun”, which prevents the bacteria from embedding itself in the fibers. Bamboo is also naturally antibacterial and antifungal. As a result, you don’t have to worry about a stench developing deep in the fabric fibers, even after a few days. One more reason bamboo fabric activewear just makes sense.

For those with sensitive skin or allergies, bamboo is completely hypoallergenic. Due to its natural anti-stick property, you don’t have to worry about it rubbing and igniting a rash or being uncomfortable.

Environmental Benefits

One of the best parts of bamboo is how environmentally friendly it is. While comfort of clothing is important, there’s much more to the benefits bamboo provides as a fabric. Here are a few of our favorite aspects of it.

Bamboo reaches its maturity much faster than trees do, about 4 years to be exact. With a deep root system, they are able to grow up to 4 feet per day! Naturally regenerative, bamboo also doesn’t require aid in growing, including fertilizers. Comparing to timber and cotton, the results are undeniable. There is absolutely no pesticides or use of any other chemicals in order to grow bamboo. Additionally, they thrive with very little water, making it a substantially sustainable source.

Cleaner Air

Trees are often regarded for their contribution to our breathing our air due to their absorption of carbon dioxide and releasing of oxygen. However, bamboo actually absorbs more carbon dioxide than any both cotton and timber, about five times more to be exact, and releases 35% more oxygen. Combined with the minimal water needed, bamboo is by far a superior eco-friendly option for the environment as a whole.

In comparison to cotton, the sheer volume of bamboo harvested is equivalent, with less of a detriment to land mass. To give an idea, if you were to yield the same amount of bamboo and cotton, the amount of land mass bamboo would cover to match it would only be 10% of the cotton land mass. Additionally, when bamboo is harvested, it is cut rather than uprooted like its tree counterpart, so it’s better for the soil as well. With its extensive root system, the bamboo prevents soil erosion and retains water.

In addition to the rest of the positive effects bamboo has on the environment, it is also 100% biodegradable. Moreover, bamboo fabrics are able to be manufactured without added chemicals.

All in all, bamboo made clothing has seen great responses in the industry. As processes continue, new ways are being designed to help make the process even more resourceful and eco friendly. Green Apple Active is a company with intention to bring an overall mental awareness to the clothing industry. With a unique blend of organic bamboo and organic cotton, our activewear is sure to surpass the comfort and fit of your usual active attire. Bamboo Fabric

There are numerous lifestyle changes that can contribute to a healthier body and a better environment for all. Using bamboo fabric instead of other materials, such as plastic and polyester, is a major example of a tiny change, which has a positive impact on the environment and the human body.

The Bamboo fabric that we use in Green Apple Active comes from the pulp of the bamboo grass, which is one of the fastest-growing grasses on earth. The bamboo plant does not need pesticides or fertilizers for its growth. As a result, the increased usage of the bamboo fabric and the increased cultivation of the plant contribute to a healthier and more sustainable environment. Moreover, it is 100% biodegradable; hence, it plays a vital role in reducing pollution.

The cultivation of the bamboo plant does not require a huge amount of water. It grows well with only rainwater, and little or no extra water. Therefore, the conservation of resources such as water by the increased usage of this fabric contributes greatly to a better environment.

Bamboo fabric has various positive effects on the human body. It is known that plastic and polyester cause hormonal problems, and lead to many diseases, including skin cancer and various other types of cancers, skin problems, and respiratory infections. Using bamboo fabric, instead of plastic or polyester, is a great way to prevent harmful effects on the human body.

Unlike most synthetic fibers, bamboo clothing has a natural deodorizing attribute. It does not leave a stench, even after being used for a few days, as it does not provide a suitable living environment for bacteria. Its antibacterial properties are the result of a bacteriologic bio agent, known as "Bamboo Kun". The Bamboo Kun adheres to the cellulose in the bamboo plant, and hence, it is retained even after the plant is processed to make the fiber.

Bamboo fabric does not cling to the skin. It is found to be 12 times more antistatic than cotton. This is due to the fact that it is hydroscopic, and has the capacity to absorb three times its weight in water. As a result, it assists in keeping the skin drier, and sits closer to the skin than regular synthetic fiber.

Another feature of bamboo fabric is its versatility. It can be worn during various activities, from working out in the gym to skiing, as it is very comfortable and gives a soft feel to the skin. Moreover, bamboo fabric adapts to the body temperature, and provides comfort in both warm and cool surroundings.

The bamboo fabric is dyed with a particular UV-absorbing material, which prevents almost 98% of the ultraviolet rays of the sun from reaching the skin, which helps in preventing skin cancer.

Bamboo fabric contains spaces between each fabric fiber, allowing the skin to breathe. This results in less abrasive damage to the skin, and hence, it is more suitable than synthetic fiber for people with sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema.

Hence, it can be seen that bamboo fabric helps both the environment and the individual. It is highly biodegradable, and supports in tackling the greenhouse effect. The plant does not need much water, pesticides or fertilizers for its growth, making it an ecological wonder. Besides this, it provides tremendous comfort as a fabric, and helps prevent various diseases.
